PowerGenie
Tomorrow's power, decided today.
PowerGenie is a decision cockpit for Indian power procurement. It issues an auditable buy, sell or hold plan for every 15-minute block of the next seven days, and never edits a plan after it is issued.

A plan you can act on
Every issue is a bid sheet, not a dashboard to interpret. It carries P50 and P90 quantities, rupee cost and deviation exposure for each block.
Stamped and never overwritten
Each build is stored with its inputs. A later issue supersedes an earlier one but never replaces it, so you can prove what was known when the bid went in.
Honest about the model
Every forecast is scored nightly against Grid-India actuals. When plain same-weekday persistence beats the model, the sheet uses persistence and says so.
The problem
Every fifteen minutes, your state buys, sells or holds. Most desks learn which one after the settlement bill.
A state's procurement day is 96 blocks long. Each block has its own demand, its own central-pool entitlement, its own exchange price and its own deviation charge. The decision for block 73 at 18:00 IST is not the decision for block 42 at 10:15.
Today that day is stitched together from a load forecast in one file, a drawal schedule in another, yesterday's cleared price in a browser tab and a DSM statement that arrives weeks later. Nobody sees the whole day in one place, and nobody can prove afterwards what was known when the bid went in.
PowerGenie puts the whole day on one sheet, three times a day, and keeps every issue on record so the plan and the outcome can be compared block by block.
- 06:30 ISTPre-readYesterday's vintage, six days ahead.

- 18:30 ISTCloseThe cleared day-ahead price replaces the forecast.
What a block decision needs
- Demand
- For that block, with a calibrated band, or same-weekday persistence when the model is not yet earning its place.
- Own generation and firm central-pool supply
- Capped at what the state actually draws.
- Price
- The cleared day-ahead price once it is known at 18:15 IST, a block forecast before that.
- Deviation exposure
- In rupees, from the demand band and the state's own recent deviation habit.
The product
The plan is the product.
Not a dashboard to interpret. A bid sheet to act on, stamped with the moment it was issued, and never edited after the fact.
- Immutable issues
- Every build is stored with its inputs hashed. A later issue supersedes; it never overwrites.
- Three builds a day
- Pre-read at 06:30, bid at 10:20, close at 18:30 IST, with a changed-since-previous-issue line on every sheet.
- Rupees, not just megawatts
- Cost at P50 and P90 per band, per day and per block, with deviation exposure priced from the published DSM rate slabs.
- Held back, not hidden
- Contracts, banking, unmapped outages and unverified horizons are listed on the sheet with the reason and what would unblock them.
- Freeze from the phone
- Commit a delivery day and the ledger records who froze it and which issue they froze.
- Export in seconds
- CSV bid sheet, a copy-ready summary, a PDF executive brief and a monthly position book from M+1 to M+24.
Trust
Honest by construction.
A cockpit is only useful if you can tell how much to believe it. PowerGenie scores itself every night and says so on every screen.
- Scored against the grid, nightly
- Every served forecast is compared with Grid-India actuals once they land. The ledger is kept by lead time, so a seven-day-ahead number is judged as a seven-day-ahead number.
- The hold-back rule
- If plain same-weekday persistence beats the model at a horizon, the sheet uses persistence and says so with a chip. A model earns its place back only by beating the baseline.
- Freshness on every panel
- A registry of 58 live feeds from Grid-India, the five RLDCs, CEA, IEX and IMD, probed every 30 minutes. Each panel carries the age of its data and names the worst feed of the day.
- One accountable price
- Once the day-ahead market clears at 18:15 IST, the cleared price replaces the forecast on every screen. No two panels disagree about tomorrow's price.
- Outages as one story
- CEA daily reports and RLDC unit lists are merged into a single timeline, one row per trip, so a unit announced twice is not counted twice.
- No accuracy claims in marketing
- You will not find a percentage on this page. The scorecard is inside the product, for your state, updated nightly, and you read it before you trust it.
The cockpit
One cockpit, every desk.
The plan sits on top of a full market, demand, supply and outage picture for all 32 states and UTs, so the reason behind a number is always one click away.
